Ugly Betty In Chinese

A Chinese version of Ugly Betty is in the works! Chinese TV network Hunan Satellite TV announced plans to produce a show based on the hit ABC series — which in turn was based on the hit Colombian telenovela, Betty la fea. Shooting will begin next month and with an estimated 400 episoes to be filmed; enough to carry the show through 2012.

A debut date has not been set for the retitled series, Invincible Ugly Woman. — will debut, but HSTV says it's already cast the female lead. Although local media reports said an unknown amateur had been hired, network sources say, “We’re not 100 percent happy with the actress who was cast," said one insider. "Now we’re considering looking for a new one."
