Actor Heath Ledger’s body was found in an apartment on Broome Street in Manhattan; he was nude with two bottles of sleeping pills by his side. Police say that at approximately 3:30 pm., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building, where Heath’s body was found, for an appointment with Mr. Ledger.
The masseuse was let in by a housekeeper, who knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When Heath failed to answer, the two entered the bedroom where they found Ledger unconscious. Authorities were called when he didn’t respond to their shaking him.
Police don’t expect foul play however there will be an investigation and an autopsy. Heath leaves behind a 2 year old daughter, Matilda, with ex-wife actress Michelle Williams.
Heath seems to have had problems with pills before in This article from The New York Times published just two months ago Heath says after taking the sleeping pill Ambien, “Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” In an interview Heath clearly appears to even been hiding a substance abuse problem or under the influence of something.
